“COVID-19 Update!”

Dear Students, Staff and Community Members,

We are now in the middle of November and the state wide and county numbers of COVID-19 are on the rise.  We have had a few cases where students have been quarantined, because of family members or acquaintances being tested positive for the virus.  For safety reasons, we quarantine anyone who has been exposed to someone who tested positive.  This practice will most likely go on throughout the year.  Currently to date, we have not had any students test positive for COVID-19.

On a more sobering note, we have had a few staff members who work in the building test positive.  Regulations require that we send out a notice to the public that we have had a positive case shortly after we find out.  Any employee, student or person that is potentially exposed to someone who is a known positive case is contacted by phone immediately.  If it is a student, we contact their legal guardian immediately.  By the time the notification to the public is sent out and posted, any person who would need to be concerned would have already been contacted.

I want everyone to be prepared to learn completely through remote programming.  We all know what is best is to get our students in a normal brick and mortar school operations.  If anything we have learned in these last few months is the best way for students to learn is when they are with their teachers in a classroom.  Having athletic contest is good for our kids as well, as long as we can keep them safe.  We hope we can resume in person learning the rest of the school year.  However, we have to be realist and be prepared for possible remote learning in the future if needed.

Safety and education are the main priorities.  Parents, please be diligent in making sure your child is working both in class and especially online.  Also, please emphasize safety and all the things we need to do to minimize the spread of the virus.

This has been a challenging year.  We will need to adjust to the situations we are given.  We will have future changes and we will communicate them as soon as we have a plan.  We appreciate your continued patience in this complex process.  Thanks and have a good week!
