Discovery Zone is an annual event at Grand Valley Elementary School which occurs the week before every spring Book Fair. It is planned and implemented by our PTO, family volunteers and our school librarian, Barbara Rubosky. It consists of 5-7 activities or Centers, with each Center focused on a different core subject and themed to mirror the them of our Book Fair. This year's DZ, themed The Wild West, had Centers which included math. science, geography, panning for gold, and a chest full of cowboy relics loaned to us from the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma. Each class visits the DZ for 45 minutes and goes from one Center to another. To make the event even more authentic, our volunteers decorated the room with saddles, cactus, a covered wagon and several actual wagon wheels.
