Grand Valley Reopening

Safe and Responsible

Tomorrow, Thursday, July 30, 2020, we will be posting several documents that will give you our current up-to-date plans on how we intend to reopen school safe and responsible.  Please be aware that the pandemic is an evolving situation, and our plans could change at any time. We will then update our information and send out a notification for all to review the new updates and changes.  Future changes could be:  frequency of how to attend brick and mortar school, starting school date, groups of students reporting at specific times and many other changes that need to be made to maintain the safety of our students, staff and community members.

Documents to be released on July 30, 2020 will be:

1.      A Reopening Guide for Families and Staff

2.      FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

3.      Grand Valley Student Daily Home Health Check

4.      High School Restart Guide

5.      Middle School Restart Guide

6.      Elementary Reopening Plan

7.      University Hospitals Healthy Restart Playbook to Reopening Schools

In the “A Reopening Guide for Families and Staff,” there will be a link where parents can choose to enroll their student for full online schooling the first semester.  If a parent chooses the full online option, please enroll the student by Friday, August 7, 2020, so we can get appropriate counts to prepare for their success.

Our “Brick and Mortar” students will operate under three levels depending on the safety need.  Green – (Five days a week, safe and socially distanced); Yellow – (2–2.5 days a week, safe and socially distanced/2–2.5 days a week virtual); and Red - (Five days totally virtual).

We intend “today” to start grades K-5 in Green mode and grades 6-12 in Yellow to properly social distance and remain safe.  We feel that our students will learn best with our teachers, however, we must be safe!

Again, this is our plan today!  Please pay close attention for updates and as school gets closer to open, it most likely will change.

Sincerely and safely,
