Mustang

From the desk of Ms. Cozad:

It is with sadness in my heart that I send this message that we will not get to reconvene together for the rest of the 2019/20 school year according to the Governor’s order. I hope and pray that all of you are healthy and that you are managing with the school work that is being provided. Our teachers are working endlessly to try to provide you and your children with instruction, as well as opportunities for the children to see each other‘s faces in Google Meets or in Zoom sessions. If your child is able to log into the Google Meet or Zoom session please do have them, it is a great opportunity for the children to socialize a little bit.

5th-Grade camp is tentatively rescheduled for 8/31/2020-9/2/2020 for the current 5th-grade students. They will be attending as 6th-graders.  Obviously, this is if we are permitted to attend camps at this time.  If you need a refund of your money now, please email me at the school (roberta.cozad@grandvalley.school).  Otherwise, you can leave the money at the school and we will use it to send your child for the tentative date.

This upcoming week we are going to try to spread a little bit of joy. I hope you got a chance to see the video that the teaching staff at Grand Valley put together. We miss your children so much.  Starting on Monday, April 27th, we are going to do a spirit week and ask that you send a picture of your child dressed up for spirit week! You can have your child go to their Google Drive, Click on Shared Drives, Click on GV Spirit Week, and upload their photos to the day of the week for which they took the picture.  Or you can send them to me in an email and I will add them to the drive for you! (roberta.cozad@grandvalley.school).  We will be creating a slide as well for the students.  We will not be using videos, only pictures.

The days for spirit week will be:

Monday: Mustang Monday! Wear your favorite Mustang gear to support our GV family.

Tuesday: Hat Day! Hats off to our essential employees!

Wednesday: Wonderful Wednesday! Dress up like people that make you feel wonderful! (Your parents, doctors, scientists, teachers, etc.)

Thursday: WE NEED A VACATION DAY! Dress like you are on a vacation.

Friday: Fancy Friday! (Get dressed up fancy to support our juniors and seniors for what would have been their Prom Night)

Please, send those photos in so we can all see the faces of our children and try to find a way to connect!

Also, don’t forget the lunches are delivered every day for ALL children ages 1-18 at various locations. See the website for those!  The meals are free to all, please have your child pick up a lunch each day!

Reminders:

  • Please have your child check their school email address daily.  Many teachers are checking in with them there.

  • Remember, it is critical that you use the technology with regard to assignments.  The assignments will not be marked late, please just make sure to submit using the technology you have, even if it’s slow and spotty.  We are trying desperately and asking for your help, to avoid spreading this virus.  Again, if you have some sort of access to technology, please use that rather than request paper copies.  As of Monday, we will only be providing paper copies to those students who have no internet access.  The students use technology daily while in school so they are very adept at using documents and reading from the internet.

Stay safe and healthy!

Go Mustangs!
